Canza Finance Organized their first Filecoin Orbit event at Alabama A&M University (AAMU).

AAMU is home for our Co-founder Oyedeji Oluwoye who is passionate about bringing web3 knowledge back to his community. In collaboration with the Engineering department with the chairman Dr. Fu, we were able to deliver our first workshop that covers Blockchain Fundamentals, the different the three versions of the internet in occurrence, Web 1, Web 2 and Web 3. In addition, we also introduce IPFS and Filecoin as well as the Decentralized Storage. On the speaker row were Pascal Ntsama, Oyedeji Oluwoye and Nato Silue.

This workshop was divided into two parts, a presentation and a Hackathon.

On November 16th, 2022 we delivered a presentation that covers Blockchain Fundamentals, the different the three versions of the internet in occurrence, Web 1, Web 2 and Web 3. In addition, we also introduce IPFS and Filecoin as well as the Decentralized Storage. We had a total of 24 attentive attendees. Most of them were from the Computer Science and Engineering departments with one student who was majoring in Psychology. The students were very engaging. At the end of our presentation, we asked a series of questions which allowed us to clarify any concept they did not understand. We also announce the details and rubric of the hackathon.

The Hackathon Presentations were due on November 17th. The prompt for this hackathon was to determine an area in their University or Community where IPFS or Filecoin could be used. The 2 top students we would like to highlight : Olasubomi Olawepo and Koby Draper took their learning to the next level by completing our hackathon and having the best submissions. They are both computer Science students from AAMU.

All our gratitudes go to Alabama A&M University Computer and Engineering Department for giving us such a great opportunity to talk to their students. We look forward to continuing this collaboration.

Our gratitude also goes to the Filecoin Orbit Community that supported us and made this event possible. We are looking forward to planning more events in 2023!
