According to the national bureau of statistics, 42.5% of Nigerian youths are unemployed and 21% are underemployed. A whopping 63.5% of youths are adversely affected by the economic and structural predicaments of the nation.

Canza finance in collaboration with Celo has been hosting “Making Sense of Blockchain and DeFi” program across different institutes of learning in Nigeria, with the latest event holding at LandMark University, Kwara State, Nigeria on the 27th of May, 2022. We acknowledge the need for an improved curriculum to equip students with the skills needed to identify areas of opportunity in their society, thereby creating avenues of value creation.

We have taken the initiative to educate and sensitize students on these opportunities by presenting them with viable use-cases and speakers who are creating value in their various societies using this technology.

Speakers at the event include Aliu Musa — Ecosystem lead at Celo Labs, Abisoye Falabi — Crypto project manager, and Muyi Nehikhare — project manager at Canza finance. They explained the perks of blockchain technology in contrast to existing legacy systems and gave insight into their journey and the lessons learned.

We met an already engaged audience, some of whom were already leveraging the blockchain in various aspects, this created a more interactive session and relationship building. Most importantly, they were happy to have us. It was a pleasant learning experience for all parties involved.
